Dr. Kindt completed his training in Neurosurgery at the University of Michigan and was on staff there for 12 years before relocating to the University of Colorado in 1981.  Dr. Kindt’s clinical interests include brain ischemia, brain edema, head trauma and spine surgery.  He was involved in the original development of intracranial pressure monitoring in head trauma patients and the use of hyperventilation to reduce elevations of intracranial pressure. In addition, he was involved in the development of hypertension-hypervolemia for brain ischemia, which has become the standard of practice for the treatment of cerebral vasospasm.  Dr. Kindt was Chief of the Division Neurosurgery for nearly two decades, and spearheaded its transformation into a freestanding University Department.  He stepped down as Interim Chief of the Department of Neurosurgery in January 2001 and remains active in clinical and education activities of the Department, and oversees our very active clinical service at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.
