Dr. VanderArk trained in Neurosurgery at the University of Michigan.  He joined the faculty at UCHSC in 1970 and began the Neurosurgery Service at DHMC.  He returned from private practice in South Denver in 2003 to assume the role of Director of the Residency Program.  After steering the Residency through the process to increase the resident complement to double its previous capacity, he stepped down as Director. He remains on the faculty as a consultant to for special projects.
